1. Do you have one or more co-workers that often talk over other team members?

2. Do co-workers show signs of dread or intimidation?

3. Have you noticed a co-worker taking credit for other team members’ work?

4. Are your team members suffering from harassment?

5. Have you witnessed a colleague abusing his or her authority?

If you answer yes to three or more of these questions, you have a serious issue of bullying to contend with, within your organization. Talk to the instigator in private and explain objectively and fairly how grievance procedures work.

Think about how you can prevent bullying by implementing an anti-bullying policy and training your managers and staff in how to deal appropriately with bullying. Make sure that your team knows who to talk to if they want to file a complaint, and that they are assured that their concerns will be addressed in full confidence.
